Verified by VISA - can't sign up

It seems that AvantCard has now joined the "Verified by VISA" scheme. Today I tried to make a purchase online, but was thwarted in my endeavour by being asked obligated to sign up to "Verified by VISA" first. Which simply wasn't possible. Any username I tried was rejected, but not a hint could be seen as to WHY the system…

Which simply wasn't possible. Any username I tried was rejected, but not a hint could be seen as to WHY the system did not like them. Which is just unbelievably dumb.

Any ideas anyone on how to solve this problem?

Had to phone them to get it sorted out.
