    Hey guys,

So I currently have a set of 18" RS6 replicas alloys on my Bora. However, I am now going to change them to a set of original 16" Bora Sport alloys.

My first question: Would I be right in saying that the tyre spec I should be looking out for is:

    205/55/16 91W

If so, can anyone recommend a good set to buy taking into account that I do about 700 miles a week (mostly motorway). I would like to get them for no more than 100 a corner but I want a reliable set that wear well. Not interested in sports or performance types.

    Any advice would be great.

Look on your drivers side doorwell and the tyres sizes should be printed on there.
Will give you a range of tyres for each size.

The tyre size is right. I wouldn't however bother with a 91W tyre its simply not needed. A 91H or 91V is sufficient.

If I was fitting that tyre size to my car with your budget I'd fit Goodyear Efficient Grip Performance. You should pay €90-€95 per tyre fitted.

Good advice - they seem to be well reviewed and less than 310 delivered.

Been running Hankook all seasons on my Golf (mark 4) with a size of 195/65/15 with no issues for the past 3 years. No significant wear in the Summer and great grip in the cold. There was 6ish months in between getting them fitted on the front and back and I have done around 30,000 miles on the two I just replaced. There is a lot of seasonal tyre debate and I don't want to get into it but for me, personally for motorway and regional based driving with no requirement for sporty tyres, I have had these fitted and have not had to worry not have I ever encountered an issue in the various kinds of weather we have had in the last 3/4 years. Very solid in the wet too, some of the motorway standing water has been bad over the years.

EDIT: I did some looking up for your on Eiretyres and they are 91H for 85 (plus a tenner fitting) each. Better value was to be had before the Winter.

Where did you see them for €310 delivered if you don't mind me asking?

You can buy them here for €85 fitted. Its worth giving Irish companies a chance rather than presuming Eiretyres or Camskill is always cheaper. In most cases a good independent tyre retailer can be competitive with internet prices when fitting is added into the equation.

Locally no one would stock them or even entertain their existence, I understand what you mean but don't assume I haven't tried local ;)

Of course, I am sure there are some places in the Republic that will sell them but for what was handy for me when buying given my driving routes, Derry was the only place I could get them unless I ordered in off the web and got them fitted at local tyre shops in Kildare.

Sorry meant to say less than 320! Camskill have them at 316 delivered to Ireland.

The best value for money tyres you can get are Vredestein Sportrac 5, Dunlop Blue Response SP (or previous Fast Response - have them myself, great tyre) or new Uniroyal Rain Sport 3. The Goodyear Efficient Grip Performance mentioned above are a top tyre as well. In the size you mention the Uniroyals seem great value (£48 on Camskill - 270 euro delivered - you will not find a better value tyres). In fact my current ones have 3 mm left on them and I'll be getting either the Uniroyals or Vredesteins.
