Anyone get one of these in lieu of a ticket?

I am just wondering if anyone has received one of the attached notes on their car in lieu of a ticket. I was parked in Cork City on Saturday, down by the docks by R&H Hall for anyone that knows the area. There used to be parking allowed here and in fact, a lot of workers in the city parked here as it was one of the last places to park for free. I parked here on Saturday and dopey here never noticed that they had erected ‘No Parking at Any Time’ signs and when I came back to my car, I had this note on my windscreen. I have never come across it before, but in saying that, it’s many years since I got a parking ticket, so not sure if this is the norm and a ticket follows in the post? It seems strange, that there is no time, location, reg number on it, it’s basically a generic, photocopied note with the date written on.

It looks like they took your details electronically (one of them handheld yokes) and just put a notice to warn you to not park there again as it can take a long time for the fine to come.

I got a ticket for parking on Cornmarket Street on a Sunday. No ticket on the car or in the post, just got a notice from the Gardai saying I had to pay 40 quid.

what's the wonder? It says the penalty notice will follow.

As per my OP corktina, I had never come across this before. I thought it strange that it didn't have the location, time or reg number on it. But as the other two replys indicated, it's quite normal. As I said in my OP, it's many years since I got a parking ticket and at the time it was a proper ticket with all the details on it, so I was wondering if the system had changed since then.

This is the standard way of issuing a ticket in cork for years. You get that piece of paper under your wiper and the fine is posted to you.

Yeah, it's just an FYI that you've been busted. Otherwise, you might park there (and get ticketed) a few more times before the first fine comes in the door - then you would be really pis*ed off! The fine that you get in the post will have all the details of day, date, time and reg.

It's how we roll on Leeside!

Thanks for the replies. The council was making a killing on Saturday, there must have been 50 cars parked there!

Feel sorry for the people that parked there for work. That's one of the few free parking places near the city, so it'll be a big loss to some people.
