Hi guys, currently debating switching from console to PC for next gen gaming, so the question is: can I build a new pc for the price of a next gen console, or should I consider second hand ?
Requirements are laid out below, thanks.

    1. What is your budget? €400-500

    2. What will be the main purpose of the computer? Gaming, should be capable of running Battlefield 4

    3. Do you need a copy of Windows? No

    4. Can you use any parts from an old computer? No

    5. Do you need a monitor? No

5a. If yes, what size do you need. n/a

5b. If no, what resolution is your current monitor and do you plan to upgrade in the near future?
    n/a

    6. Do you need any of these peripherals? Keyboard and mouse

    7. Are you willing to try overclocking? No

    8. How can you pay? Debit card

    9. When are you purchasing? In time for Christmas

    10. If you need help building it, where are you based? Should be able to build it myself.

You should be able to put something together. Can you tell me what size monitor you will be using, well, what resolution mainly?

I'm hoping to use it with my tv - it's 22inch full hd 1920x1080, with PC input VGA and DVI I think.

There are tabs on the first post of this Reddit Thread that give some different price points for builds.

I'm looking to sell my rig if I get the job I've interviewed for over in Sheffield. Looking for around €600. Specs are:
    CPU - I5 3570K
GPU - Asus Direct CuII 7950
    Mobo - AsRock Z77 pro 3
    PSU - Super flower 550 W
    HDD - Seagate Barracuda 1TB
    SSD - Samsung 830 128 GB
    Case - CoolerMaster HAF 912
    CPU cooler - CoolerMaster V8
    RAM - 8GB G.Skill PC3

Loaded with Windows 7. Razer Lycosa keyboard, Skiller Sharkoon keyboard, Sharkoon fireglider mouse, Trust Vortex 2.1 speaker set, Razer Goliathus mouse pad. If you're interested fair enough, apologies if you're not. I should know in the next week or two weather I have the job or not.

Probably going to be a bit over what I'd like to pay Sarz91, but let me know anyway if you're selling, might be interested.

I understand completely. I think €600 is fair for the specs but I'll rectify it if someone with a bit more experience or knowledge lets me know.

600 is more than fair for those parts.

    That's a bargain for €600.

This is about the best you could do new.

You have to use http://geizhals.de/ to get the discounted prices shown. Search each part and select hwvs from the list.

You will have to get a keyboard elsewhere as the german layout is different.

    Item|Price
    Intel Core i3-4130 Box, LGA1150|€98.41
    MSI H81M-P33, mATX, Sockel 1150|€39.30
    WD Caviar Blue 1TB 6Gb's|€49.98
    Cooler Master N200, mATX-mini-Tower, schwarz, ohne Netzteil|€33.07
    2 x 4GB G.Skill PC3-10667U CL9|€60.98
    Sharkoon Squad Laser Mouse|€11.71
    Sharkoon WPM500|€42.87
    Shipping|€18.99
    Total|€355.31

    7870 2gb €135

    Total €490
