I saw a 5kw Stove for €330 in my local hardware store over the weekend, I am seriously thinking of getting it, I have an existing fireplace and would want to insert it into that, would there be a lot of work involved in taking out the exisiting fireplace and inserting it in, if not full in at least half way? Does anyone have any idea how much a the installation of a stove would be, the house is 5 years old. I won't be doing the work myself !

    Thanks.

    What make is it?

A lot of inserts just "insert" into the fireplace with fireback in place. Unless it's a boiler stove with a bigger fire box.

How big is the room you want it in? I've a 5kw stove and need the CH on too. :( Very unhappy for the money I spent.

5kw should be plenty for most rooms, what type of stove you get, and what fuel are you using? Just as a general rule of thumb if you allow 100watts/m2 a room measuring 5m x 4m equates to a room loss of 2000w ie 2kw. So a fire with 5kw output with an efficientcy of 76% would give a heating element of 3.8kw still way over the room heating requirements.
