It's now less than 30 days to Santa (yay) and not to burden the other thread for general stuff or the forum with many smaller threads this thread is created to focus on:
    presents/cards/jumpers/trees/wreaths/caves and so on..

Btw, there is a dedicated Christmas forum here if you'd rather use that or need inspiration christmas-smiley-133.gif

Sure I might as well kick this off :)

I'm looking to get a Christmas tree for my apartment.
Ideally I would prefer a real tree, but if they are too expensive, I'll go with an artificial one. I've never bought a tree before, so I haven't a clue how much they (the real ones) are.

So where are the best places in Galway city to buy a tree?

I'm looking for 2 kids elf costumes for a photo shoot this Friday.

I got a plastic full size one years ago in Woodies for 50 maybe. Still going strong.

B&Q also do really nice artificial trees

Btw, I'm looking for a cheap wreath myself.
Doesn't have to be flash or anything, just something for work.
    Cheap is key :D

    Thanks lads.
Woodies DIY and B&Q both seem to have a decent range of artificial trees.
And Woodies have 20% off their artificial trees at the moment!

Does anyone have any links to prices for real trees?
And where in Galway city can you buy real trees? I presume both Woodies and B&Q have them? And there is usually a guy on Bridge Street who sells them.

    Maybe chance checking Eason's?

They have a few tv mugs. I don't know if they have GOT though, I don't watch it so it wouldn't have stood out to me.

I picked up a tree at the Coillte Christmas Tree Depot at the weekend.
The price list is as follows: 5-6 ft. trees are €40; 6 - 7 ft. trees are €45; 7 - 8 ft. trees are €50; pine trees are €30; and a small stand is €35.

    Galway locations:
    • Millers Hall, Western Distributor Road, Claybaun (Behind Monkey Business). Opening times: Nov 30th - Dec 22nd, Mon - Fri: 11am – 7pm & Sat - Sun: 10am – 6pm.
    • Galway Park and Ride Facility (behind Galway Race Course), Ballybrit. Opening times: Nov 30th - Dec 22nd, Mon - Fri: 11am – 7pm & Sat - Sun: 10am – 6pm.

There is also a new place that has opened in the Liosban Ind. Estate. It's beside Mocha Beans. I've forgotten the name but it has Sewing/knitting/stitching gear for sale.

@rowr If you ring Castlemine farm, they may put it aside for you to pick up at their stand on the market at the weekend.

I'm looking for a small picture frame, frame being bigger than a credit card but not by an awful lot, also the cheaper the better as the frame doesn't matter quite so much.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 81,220 ✭✭✭✭biko

There is, or was, frame maker on Cross street.
You can try this shop www.facebook.com/galwayframeshop

For a cheap small frame like that, you could maybe try some of the 2 Euro/Dealz type shops.

An actual frame shop might be unnecessarily expensive. I could easily be wrong though!! :)
