Hi,I'm thinking about getting a pointer bitch can any one give me advise on this, I don't get out every Sunday but most. Is this enough work for this dog or is there another breed more suitable?? I mostly go out shooting on my own. I would prefer to get a trained bitch as iv not had a working dog before and know little about training. also is the breed hyper or quieter as it would also be somewhat of a family pet . should I get an older bitch or a younger one? any help anyone could give me would be great. Oh I shoot woodcock pheasant and duck.

all depends on the dog.if been hyper or not.iv 3 gsps and their all different temperments.one sunday is not enough in my opinion.can you get it out for a walk in the evenings on lead even.gsps get board easy and destructive.great on snipe/pheasant/duck.woodcock you will get but its slow shooting over them not the same as a flushing dog.have you ever seen a brittany spaniel.they point too that would cover all your shooting.

ya out working on Sunday, dog would be walked 2 times at least every day as dog would be a family pet also. brittany spaniel, will do some research on him and see, sounds like a great option for me. I thought the pointer but if its not fast shooting I would get bored. Thanks very much
