    How's things.

We were considering a new landini around 120hp to be used for loader work.

What are people's views on these Tractors.

    Thanks

Will be worth nothing in a few years time. What you save now on the cost will be lost the minute you buy it and the rest.
Stay away. If you can't afford one of the well know brands then go for a good second hand one.

If they are worth nothing in a few years can I have one then

I don't see any Powerfarm's or Landpowers worth nothing.

    Similarly with Vision's and Legend's.

And I know several who would pay good money for a good clean base spec Legend or indeed an 80 series.

There are plenty of other brands out there bar JD, MF and NH lads

See a few of them landpower ones around here know nothing about them at all but they seem very big and akward for a 120 hp tractor

I,v a landini blizzard find it very reliable only problem

Were on our second landini here, bought a new blizzard in 99 and she worked like an animal for 6yrs until the pto pack went, we ran a 10 ft trailed conditioner mower, krone chopper baler and a 1600 gallon tanker of her including numerous others, when the pto pack went in her we traded her for a 98 landini 9880. Went fine for 3 yrs but she will cost us a bome to fix, elecric lifts are gone, sensor in gearbox is gone, so she cant be started on the ignition, and 4 wheel drive us gone in the crown and pinion and bearings in the steering. Despite that she is a pure sow to pull anything even with the 4wd not working. We'll never buy another one though.
if your buying one id trade it every five years if i was you, from what i see they get problematic when they get older

That sensor is an easy fix though. Life the hole in the middle of the cab and it is there in front of you.

In fairness probably not the best of an idea buying a 9880 with electric lift!

1999 one here for over 2 years now and still impresses us bar the 4wd engagement.

Ah she was a beaut of a tractor when everything worked. Id say i will fix her all up and keep her as good tractor ha

Have a vision105 here, and can't massively fault it either. Its had one clutch put in, but for the hours that's to be expected. Had a Blizzard 85 before that, similarly threw a clutch into it, but otherwise very few problems.

ye depends how well you look after id say. We were too busy here for the first few years to look after machines. Big down fall maybe

Afaik the landpower is the replacement for the Legend. The chap i work for has two legend 135s. We find them very good. they both have 6500hours of hard work done, like mowing , agitating, pulling a silage wagon , 2500 gallon vacuum tank. The only things they have needed are a new clutch a piece and a few cables. As regards size . they may look big but are very tidy around the yard, they have a good lock on the steering.
Another nice thing about them is they are fitted with 40k gearboxes but are doing nearer 55k on the road..

All that said they arent a new holland/JD , they wouldnt be as comfortable or quiet as the name brands but are a good bit cheaper than them. and you can specify front suspension when you buy new.

One other thing i like about them id they have electronic fuel injection and to turn up the power you have to buy a tuning box which will only give you 10% more. There isnt a new holland out there that isnt turned up. i know of a tm135 that was turned up to 190hp to run triple mowers.
Now thats a tractor that is half wrecked but looks cosmetically well . You wouldnt know the trouble you would be buying

Thanks for all.the replies. We have since looked at a NH6.155. To be fair couldn't compare it with the New 4 cylinder 115hp landini we looked at. Of course there is a notable price difference also so there is that too to be considered. We farm on a share of hilly ground so perhaps a.heavy 6cylinder tractor may be better when pulling a vacuum tank and 10ft conditioner mower.

Another thing I see is the landini hydraulic pump is 53ltr/min whereas NH is I think 113ltrs/min. We do all silage bales so summer and winter are busy times with loader. Not knowing much about pumps would the faster pump mean a significant difference in the speed of the loader

Yup, normally a higher capacity pump will mean a faster lift assuming the hydraulic rams on the loader are a similar size, you would have to see the two tractors with loaders to see the difference though.

As regards power, the saying goes 'its better to be looking at it than looking for it' . most contractors around us wont put less than 140hp on a 10foot mower. with hills even that will die, so less hp will struggle even more, especially if you are pulling a 1360/1365 JD running at 540rpm
With a vacuum tank on a hill id prefer to have a heavy tractor which is less likely to be pushed around than a 4 cyl.
The only thing is a 6cyl would be big for a loader, awkward around yards, but would need no counter weights. It would be under less pressure with the loader, for drawing bales , two on the back and one on the front.
