Which Audi TT to buy??

    Hey Guys,

I'm looking at a couple of Audi TT's and can't decided on which one to go for.
    The first is a 2007 3.2 quattro http://www.carzone.ie/search/Audi/TT/COUPE-3./37313797519038710/advert?channel=CARS
The obvious negative with this car is the €1800 road tax per year, and the difficulty in selling it in a few years. I also think the car is overpriced taking this into account. Would €11,000 be a fair offer on this car?

The second TT is a 2007 2.0 turbo front wheel drive. This car has a higher spec, and lower car tax of +/- €790, and would be much easier to see, however the higher powered quattro would be much more fun. http://www.carzone.ie/search/Audi/TT/COUPE-2./201347219854478/advert?channel=CARS
I'm definitely getting a DSG automatic btw.

    What would you pick?
    Cheers

What are the bhp figures of each model?
Quattro is a must imo but I believe a 2.0 quattro if you were to find one would be a better buy overall as if one is to believe what you read, the 2.0 is a better handling car and not alot down on power.

    200bhp for the 2.0t

    250 from the v6

You could easily remap the TFSI to match the 3.2 for BHP, but the sound of that VR6 engine is just sublime, dont know if the motor tax justifies it though.

Another thing going against that particular 3.2 is the DL reg!

There is no way i could justify a 3.2 on that car, a user on here used to have one I believe. The comedian maybe?

The 3.2 is worth around 10k, despite what the dealers are asking for it. It will take an eternity to shift it, and they're just chancing their arm.

There was a Dsg one up for 11k on donedeal for months (gone now- guy probably sold it for peanuts)

Your only option for a Quattro is the 3.2 fsi, or the 2.0 tdi.

Personally, I'd probably go for the FWD 2.0, as it'll be possible to move it on when you're done with it. If you could get a 3.2 for less than 10k, that would be my choice.

I negotiated the 3.2 down to €11,900 from the dealer, but I didn't want to spend any more than €11,000 on it.
I did notice that other 3.2 dsg on donedeal daRobot, and remember it having over 120,000km on the clock which turned me off it.

If tax is no problem, go with the V6.
Though at 1800 you might as well go for an M3 or S4.
Make sure you choose a Quattro, no matter what engine you go for.

1st one w/o a doubt the v6 with the dsg makes a wonderful noise and goes like **** off a shovel

Did they not do a quattro in the 2.0 TFSI in later years?
A 200 bhp front drive audi is a joke IMO.

Yes the 2.0tfsi did come with the quattro option sometime after 2010 i believe.

Seemingly they do, that would be the best of both worlds if within budget.

I wouldn't really be of the opinion that the 2.0 fwd is a joke though, no more than a MK5 GTI is a joke.

A remap will see it at about 235bhp. Plenty of fun, but obviously within fwd limitations.

Youd be getting a nearly new car for the 11900 considering the miles on it. If you can afford the tax go for it. You can always export it to the North in a few years.
A new TT and even for a Quattro 2l s tronic it would cost around 10k a year in depreciation and finance for 3 years use=30K.
Even if you got 5k euros for it in 3 years its only 2.5k a year or 1/4 a new one.
Sure the tax is 1400 quid a year more but your saving on depreciation. Also you have the V6 noise and power.

C'mon Lomb, you're always chucking out the old "the car is virtually worthless after 10 years" line, and now an almost 7 year old car is nearly new??

    At least be consistent :pac:

Hehe, its only got 20k miles= almost new. In fairness TTs keep their money to some extent. I reakon in 3 years youd get 5k for it by exporting it to the North. That would be the same as a 2004 TT today. I reakon that would fetch 4k sterling all day. Sometimes you have to pay more for something with low miles.

Just checked the VRT export site, and if you were to export the 3.2 model listed above, you get a very nice 5400 EUR.

No wonder these are swimming faster than Michael Phelps.

There you go! Its worth 11900 all day . The very low miles means it will fly in the UK (assuming the mileage is verifiable.

.......so let me get this straight..... I register it up north and the Government cut me a cheque for €5400? Holy crap!!
I do recall the rules for registering a car in the UK does state that the dash must be converted to read in MPH, so that is an added cost.

The service history of the 3.2 is superb. I was looking through the service book and it was being serviced yearly, sometimes with only 4,000km between services. Clearly someones pride and joy before

Meaning that you'd have to sell it at £5.5k to break even (plus converting the clock to MPH - necessary for the MOT)

There is a few grand to be made on that car.

Actually, maybe I'll buy it myself and have a nice Skiiing holiday in Jan :)

    I'm only messing ;)

I'd have no one to store the car for me, nor be able to show it to anyone, even if I wanted it.
