    Hi all.
Friend of mine wants to exchange polish licence to irish one.He knows that irish is valid only for 10 y but he is wondering what will happen with ''pass date'' on the back of the licence. He passed the test in 2006 so he doesnt want loose 8y.That might complicate hiring car in the future and buying car ins policy.
We tried email NDLS and call there but no reply and rep did not have a clue :D
So if someone exchanged any EU licence please let me know what date have u on the back (or inside old style licence)
    Thx

I assume as its his first issue of a irish drivers licence, it will be still valid for 10 years. They would hardly charge him full price only for it to be valid for 2-3 years.

As far I know that only happens if you have a licence not issued in the euro zone.

I exchanged my polish driving licence a few years ago. Issued on 02/11 here in Ireland.
It's valid from 02/97 (date of my test in Poland) to 01/21.
    So, no problems there.
