So my sister is liking to buy a Focus 2011- 2012. Is there much differences between the English specs. Are they a good car? It's a diesel she is after.

I have a Focus Diesel Estate 1.6 2012. I love it. I do a fair mileage, a good deal of long distance driving. It is great on fuel. I had the hatchback but love the extra boot space in the estate.

I don't know much about English spec.

Id have a Golf before one if I was buying. To me they seem to be a higher quality car compared to the focus.

They are also considerately more expensive

I think Fords are excellent cars. I've had two - a Mk VII Escort and an '07 Fiesta now. Very reliable and good on the petrol. I always say my Escort was the best car I've ever had. Drove like a tank, but so reliable. I've also driven a Focus both here and in the UK and think they're pretty nice too. Nice solid car.

One thing I'd say about the Fiesta though. The Irish spec is CRAP!! Never again. I'm going home to the UK for the next car. Seems you can either have a 1.2 petrol or 1.5 diesel. The 1.2's great, but I need a little more poke. The diesel I wouldn't touch with a bargepole. Seems very underpowered to me. I'm going for a 1.4 petrol next time...
