Door Lock Broken - Help!

    Hi,

My front door has always been a bit tricky to close but yesterday it became very difficult. I opened the lock to apply WD40 and I noticed that the lock is broken.

    You can see it here.

When I put the lock back in it I tried to close the lock and open it before actually closing the door. It would lock but it would not open so if I close the door and do this it will be locked fully.

The code on the lock is E19284 but I can not find that online. I rang B&Q who said they have a few in stock but they dont know if they would fit. I can go out there but I live over an hour away and I would like to avoid it if this is something that only the manufacturer can fix.

Has anyone got any ideas by looking at the images? All images attached.

personally i would bring it into a doors and windows place, where they deal with these all the time, you never know who you will be talking to in bnq.

so its the doors locking mechanism thats not working, the barrel / cylinder is the part that the key goes into and you have removed from the door via a single screw.

i doubt it will be a door replacement job, id say bring that with you to a windows and door place that deals with aluminium and pvc doors all day long :)

I don't think it's something that you will get in b&q. Can you show a picture of the entire lock.

Got sorted in B&Q, thanks for your help. I was able to get a generic lock and keep there for it. Paid €100 so they saw me coming but at least we can lock the doors tonight! Thanks for your help.

Jesus, thats crazy. You would have got sorted for €20 in MILA kilbarrack. Personally, for the €80 saving, I'd bring it back and get a refund !

I think OP may have replaced the complete locking system, the not just the cylinder. I did this recently for a friend and they paid over €80 at a locksmiths for the complete 3 point locking system.

Just as a comment to the OP the worst thing you can use on any lock is WD40 it dissolves the grease or washes out the graphite that is in the lock and encourages parts to grind.

WD40 is a water displacement product not a lubricant, it may work initially but it does more harm than good to lock mechanisms.
