upgrade Intel Core 2 Duo Processor E4500

    Looking to upgrade this relic, has a Intel Core 2 Duo Processor E4500
    Its a fujitsu siemens esprimo p2520 pc

    comes with 1.75 gb of ram running windows 7 64 x.
    Its very slow with some design software even after a recent reboot.
    Not into gaming but would like some good graphics for design.
    would I get away with overclocking and upgrading the ram maybe or what are my options?
    new motherboard fit inside that tower?
    get a new pc and laugh about my old dinosaur?

    Im pretty novice when it comes to computers and don't have a heap of cash at present either.

    In an ideal world you should build yourself a pc because when it comes down to this it's alot simpler to upgrade and cheaper imo

    If you wanted to keep the behemoth id say get a 4 gb ddr 2
    mEmory kit 2x2gb
    modules and I'm not sure if it's supported but a quad core q6600 Intel socket 775 and pick up a graphics card for very little on adverts a nvidia 8800gt maby would keep you ticking and you could even do a light bit of gaming :)

    +1 for building a new system. You can build a fairly powerful pc very cheaply these days.

    Even something like an a8 5600k would be a big upgrade and it's only €80. It's a quad core and it's integrated graphics are pretty decent. You could build a full system around this with 8gb of ram and a 1tb hdd for about €300-€350.

    Thanks gents the mobo is a D2740 cant even find the board on the fujitsu website (must be old) :o
    socket is LGA 775

    Are both of those you mentioned 100% compatible then? mainly see only up to Core 2 Duo.

    for the time being id be happy with that maybe throw in the graphics card suggested although I dont have any pci or pci-e slots free at the moment. sounds like a new motherboard....
    will build in the future for sure. just in college now couldn't face another project :pac:

    not sure about power supply either. how much are you looking for both as a matter of interest.

    I'd say 50 for both? Theres actually a core 2 duo in it aswell but you can overclock that has the stock cooler on it also
