I'm not sure if this is the right area for this question.

In the last few weeks there are large numbers of Flies in the upstairs rooms of the house.
The house has VELUX windows and an attic overhead.
The flies are larger than the average house-fly but not as big as a Bluebottle one.
They seem to gather around the Velux windows mostly.
I had them last year also.
Just wondering what might be attracting them and how to get rid of them.

    Any advice please.

I've the same problem, they use places like that to hide out for the winter, I opened the windows and got as many as I could and nuked the ones that flew around the room with Vapona.

Yea - I left the windows open for a day and froze the house also.
I'm spraying as well - its just messy with lots of dead bodies around on the window sills and floor etc,
How do we find the nesting spots and discourage them coming back is the question really ??

I'm afraid there isn't much you can do really, they are in the velux windows every year in my place unfortunately.

I'm not too bad in that the upstairs rooms are empty so it's easy enough to sweep them up but otherwise it would be a nightmare.

They'll be gone soon I hope,
    Thanks for your input.

They should be, this weather will kill them anyway if the windows are opened and they are exposed to it.

Could be cluster flies somewhere, you can get smoke bombs you light to get rid of them. They are usually found in attics, they get in through cracks and hatch yearly you can fumigate with those insecticide smoke bombs have a look online eBay have them.

These flies are usually slow & stupid not quick like the house fly.
