My dedeitrich dishwasher was running for about 4 hours today when I eventually pulled the fuse from the wall.

It seems like the wash cycle was still going as there was still suds in the bottom. Water only lukewarm.

    Any ideas where to start?

How old is the machine? Our own machine is also a De Dietrich which is approx. 8 years old and has been giving trouble for the past 3 months or more. It was very erratic- sometimes would wash, more times not, and no pattern to it. There's very little info online on the brand as regards standard fixes and I've checked out the usual culprits (anti-flood sensor, blocked filter, pump etc). We've more or less decided to replace the machine with something better as the callout and repair cost would probably be economically nonviable given the age of the machine. As a brand they don't seem to be rated highly. Doesn't answer your question OP, sorry!

I have had the same conclusion myself. The pump on mine wasn't rinsing great, door seal was leaking.

I am taking delivery of a new nordmende today.€400.

My old one was so old it was hard wired to the fusebox like an oven.

What did you go with in the end?

I'm not decided yet, hope to look at another store today and see what's on offer. It's a sh***y time of the year for a major appliance to break down, but it's hard work without them!

    Sounds like heater or thermostat.

Machine fills with water starts to wash and heats at the same time, once at temperature it should start to move through the program, heating issue and it will merrily wash away.

Askol type pumps around €10 from Quinnspares.

On an older d/w that acts up irregular one item that needs checking always is the loom especially at the lower end of the door as the wires become brittle and often break with all of the opening and closing of the door

The loom on mine was suspect, the wash, salt and rinse aid lights all worked intermittently.
