    Hey

Just wondering if anybody could help me out

I'm 23 living in England and attending university. I have just sold my irish in Ireland and have brought a car in England. The only problem being 23 my policy in England does not cover me to drive other cars so the policy won't cover me to drive a car when I come home.
Would anybody know what kind of cost there would be to add me to my mother or brother's policy.

My mother has a 1.5 Nissan Almera 2006 insured with Allianz
My brother has a 2007 BMW 320d 2.0 ltr insured with FBD

I was perviously a Named driver on my Mam's policy when learning to drive.

I have had my full licence for 5 years along with 5 years no claims bonus

Youre asking a question that nobody on here can answer for sure. Your mother/brother need to contact their insurance companies and get you a definite answer.

At a guess, it probably wouldnt cost a lot to get added to your mothers policy. Not sure about your brothers; probably a little bit more given the car.

yeah I just want a rough idea. My mother seems to think it will cost a bomb because I'm under 25

If you have your full and a year or two no claims probably only an extra 200 or 300. Do up a quote on some of the insurance sites and check.

With a full license for 5 years and 5 years NCB (Im not sure that is taken into account) I wouldnt have thought it would cost much to add you to a 1.5 Almera in fairness.

Some companies/policies might be free to add a named driving while others charge.

If you're mam is insured with the same company as you were with when driving in Ireland then the charge to add you might be reduced if you had an accident free period with them.

In fairness, all it takes is a phone call. The insurers won't charge for giving a quote.
Genuinely not trying to give you a smart answer, but this is the only way to get an exact figure. Nobody here can tell you how much it will cost.
It will normally be better to add you for a full year, rather than just whenever you come home.
Also, if you're not coming home for a while you can start saving now for the cost of adding you as a named driver.

Just so you know, most UK insurers would not extend "driving other cars" cover outside the UK in any event. The only one of mine (5 in last 4 years) which did was Quinn (now Liberty in UK as well). The key is in the territorial limitations in the policy docs. While third party cover is always available for your own car whie abroad (in order to meet EU regs), other cover is generally restricted.
