Ford Focus temperature dial flucates

    Hi All , Have a problem with my 2002 focus zetec 1.6 petrol . The temperature dial on the dash flucates from normal to high . All the usual suspects have been checked ( water pump , new thermostat fitted ) still have problem !! . The car is in good order otherwise but this is something I need to get sorted local mechanic is out of ideas . Any help greatly appreciated . Thanks.

    Im assuming the mechanic has checked head gasket?

    When it spikes high, if you turn on the vents to full heat full blast does it go back down to normal?

    Try the oil cooler thermostat.
