Ok so I'll be 15 during the Summer and I'll have just done my JC. I will work for anyone doing anything. I am determined to work during the summer.

I was wondering does anyone know if there are any jobs available, what places are likely to employ 15 year olds and if any of you guys have a job or had a job as a 15 year old.

    thanks, Jake

(And I live in the Dundrum area)

P.S. and yes you are allowed to have a job at 15. :)

Under the Protection of Young Persons (Employment) Act 1996 employers cannot employ children under age 16 in regular full-time jobs. Children under age 14 cannot be employed. Children aged 14 and 15 may be employed as follows:

Doing light work during the school holidays – they must have at least 21 days off work during this time
As part of an approved work experience or educational programme where the work is not harmful to their health, safety or development
In film, cultural, advertising work or sport under licences issued by the Minister for Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation
Children aged 15 may do 8 hours a week light work in school term time. The maximum working week for children outside school term time is 35 hours or up to 40 hours if they are on approved work experience.

The maximum working week for children aged 16 and 17 is 40 hours with a maximum of 8 hours a day.

Further information is available in our documents, Hours of work for young people and Rights of young workers.

"Entitled" is the wrong word there!

This question has been asked a bit by young people able to work now. You should search this forum for them. You are highly unlikely to line anything up now for the summer. There are adults with qualifications and experience lining up for jobs like that right now.

And never post personal contact details online!

Ok I have taken out my contact details but I am taking a chance of getting a job, I know I probably won't but all I can do is try

Oh absolutely, and fair play to you. Just puttin your personal details on a public forum is unsafe! When my nephew was your age, he spent summers cutting grass. Then as people got to know him, he got more odd jobs doing garden work/painting sheds. etc. He made quite a lot of money. He is a couple of years older now and still does whatever he can in those areas for pocket money.

Jake. good on you. best of luck with your job hunt, have you tried places like local shops, perhaps something like amusement parks, cinema.
Do up a c.v., word of mouth to can be your best friend. tell the mother and father. the list is endless
