    Hi,

I have a 01 astra and all of a sudden the boot wont close. Ive had a look at the lock and strayed wd40 on it and had a fiddle but still nothing, have tried unscrew it from the car to have a better look but seems to be attached by three alan key screws which i got off but there is another bit running through the car holding it still which i think is for the electrics of the boot, any advise on how to fix this or is it something that a mechanic needs to fix?

Check the mechanism it maybe in lock mode
If it is in lock when boot is open it won't be able to lock.
As the lock metal arm is triggered by hitting the bar at body of car. To unlock use a screwdriver to act as locking bar and press boot open while you push up the locking arm.

It difficult to describe but will make sense when your looking at it

Yeah, if the mechanism is good and can be opened, closed properly with a screwdriver, then it needs lowered. Loosen its bolts on the lid then move closer down a bit, re-tighten.
