    Write up of the season.

Why will this be a difficult game? Looking at the Leinster team, there are some familiar names with decent experience. Have to admit though I'm unfamiliar with the Treviso team. I hope Tuqiri has sorted his hamstring as I'd like to see him at his best. Would be great if the Leinster players would pass it to him too.

If molloyjh wants to chip in two or three thousands words and do one of his super duper fcukin tables (fancy Dan) then he's welcome to.

I bet he'll come to basically the same conclusion.

But let's face it: it's a poxy low end Rabo game

It's a decent enough Treviso team, experienced half-backs, couple of threatening backs and a few decent players in the pack. Plus, at home, they're hard to beat at the best of times.

Leinster have a very callow backline, Tuqiri hasn't really shone to date and will be relying on a big game from Gopperth. Pack looks good enough, but Denton and Auva'a for example, aren't exactly great.

    Will be close.

Great to see Hudson in at 15, probably his best position but he's been royally screwed with injuries, particularly last season he would have got a massive chunk of game time but for injury

If Reid and Macken are callow at this level they have problems going forward with Leinster. Reid is on the bubble in terms of getting a renewed contract or not but Macken really should be putting in big performances at this level

They're both promising players but Pratichetti and Loamanu are pretty decent. They may not be world-beaters but they're quite experienced and could exploit any defensive weaknesses they may have.

Jeez didn't even realise Berquist ended up with this lot.

Going to be a very tough game. Is that bench the same that was named earlier? Didn't realise Jordo was back? Great news all the same.

Hard to call, if we have faith in the young fellas we should manage it, but Treviso away has claimed many scalps, not sure what to expect to be honest.

Maybe somebody in the know might be able to tell me this, but what is the logic of having this game on at the same time as the Ireland match?

All that counts for this is that it doesn't clash with the Italian game. Mediaset don't really care about what's happening in Ireland.

I presume all the bars around lansdowne will be showing this on delayed coverage?

I've mixed feelings about this one. It is going to be tough. It won't be pretty (but then even with a full squad we haven't been doing "pretty" either). And it is a 3rds versus a lower tier 2nds.

However it will be a good measure of where some of the younger lads are at and after a few weeks off to focus on this one I'd hope we'd be geared up and well prepared for it.

I'll be watching Ire on BBC just to be sure the result isn't ruined.

Just thought I'd bump this to get the ball rolling etc etc....

And also to try and get over the disappointment .... :(

What happened the game? TG4 still has the GAA on.

Extra time, just a few more mins. I think. :o

My Da'll be happy that Castlebar won all the same :P

    This isn't the full match.....

EDIT: unless its to cover the GAA coverage.

Nice play so far. 12-0 Leinster.

Epic defence from Treviso when on their own try line. They certainly woken up since the first couple of tries.

    Jaysus, Zane was released??

Also, Lote is looking decent so far, best performance for us by a mile.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,681 ✭✭✭✭P_1

Oof, big missed forward pass in the lead up to Gophert's penalty there.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 378 ✭✭ConFurioso

Some iffy play, but winning away to Treviso is always good. Especially with manybppayers missing.

Ruddock had a big game, looks like he lost a few pounds this season and now looks very light in his feet in open play while still keeping his strength in the tight, can't be far from the H Cup team now. Unfortunately for him McLaughlin was very impressive for Ireland today, would still like to see Ruddock get a run in the full team though, has been consistently impressive this season

Tiquiri our best back by far today. Hate to say it but I told ye so. Tiquiri didn't look good for us because he was playing with an injury. He'd be a handy player to keep for the rest of the season.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 9,257 ✭✭✭Hagz

Regardless I'd rather see someone like SCM or Boyle play in his place.

Why? Their time will come. I'd rather see them given game time WITH the internationals rather than throwing them in the deep end of an away tough grind in Italy without them.

Sorry AK, that's complete self love. Great, looking good against a second Treviso with 21 players down.

Will it? They're final year academy and I don't think they've made a single appearance for Leinster between them, either we see what they can offer now or there isn't much reason to give them a contract. SCM is in his 4th year too, their time has to be running out. That said they should be there ahead of Fanning if anyone

21? They had 10 missing? With a lot of talent. Doesn't explain why the rest of our backline was average compared to him.

All I was saying was give the chap a chance.

    We had 21 missing.

Great, give him a chance, but that doesn't change the fact that he's been very disappointing so far and doesn't deserve to be paid big bucks for the full year based on what he's served up.

Disappointing because he was injured. The way people were going on he was some foreign invader stealing our jobs.

Maybe SCM and Boyle aren't impressing at training. Maybe MOC doesn't think they're ready. Either way they will get time. But probably in the right circumstances.

Thought Macken was poor enough today, Reid mixed the sublime with the awful but the standout performer was ruddock.

A win in Treviso at any stage is nothing to be sniffed at.

And Tuqiri had to play. A back three of Hudson, Fanning and SCM? No.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,264 ✭✭✭✭Fireball07

Tuqiri was excellent today, made ground every time he touched the ball.

As was Vosawai for Treviso, who is a serious ball-carrier.

Excellent win for Leinster, there were lots of mistakes and everything, but it was a heavily depleted team against a decent Treviso team. Didn't look like they were going to do it after Esposito's try but they worked hard for it. Gopperth didn't have his best game, Ruddock had a good game, and Macken looked lively.

Agree with everything apart from Macken. Had a couple of breaks but didn't really link up well, thought Reid had a better showing (although had some horror tackles).

Was trying to figure out how the backline was lining up at the end of the game... At one stage all of Tiquri, Kirchner, Fanning, Hudson and Macken were on the field am I right?

Think Hudson has played 12 before, I'd say he'd be a good one

What was wrong with O Shea? Wasn't he originally supposed to be on the bench?

Kirchner became available so he took his spot.

Oh. Well then surely O'Shea just didn't get on the pitch. Like Tracy and O'Connell.
