    Legendary tech guru John Carmack - he who brought the first-person shooter into the limelight with Doom, Quake and more - has left id Software, the studio he co-founded back in 1991.

    Made a joke recently on here about "Carmack still making games?" hasnt really made anything in a while credited for programming the engine but still he advanced gaming tech engines.

    Moving to Occulus full time apparently.

    Not surprising given his involvement with OR. Makes me wonder about id though - their long time CEO left in the summer, and Bethesda have been moving a lot of id staff around from one project to another, including the shambles that is the Doom 4 development.

    Anyway, good luck to Carmack - looking forward to seeing what OR can do.

    Didn't this happen a while ago?

    Hopefully bring some good experience to the Rift team though. He certainly knows the industry pretty well.

    He's been working on Oculus Rift for a few months alright, but still held his position with id 'til today.
