paypal question

    have only now started to used the service and am wondering that was asked for my email address by a seller on adverts.ie who said he would bill me once i gave him my email address.is this wise?i know its a basic question but as i said im a newbie

    Do you mean for him to pay you? Then yeah he needs the email address you use for the paypal account - he doesn't need any other details to pay.
    I don't know of any other way to receive payments through paypal but I've had no issues getting payments this way.

    If it's for you to pay him, then no it's the other way around; you don't need to give him your email, you would need his to send the payment. Though he might be able to see it when he get's notification from paypal of the payment.
