A friend of mine is just after starting back to work on a 20hr a week contract.
She is currently in receipt of OPFA for herself and one child.
She asked for my help in working out how much she would get in OPFA with the new income.
Her new wage will be @€;211pw, now as I understand it?(And I'm likely wrong)
€105.50 will be disregarded and half of the remaining €105.50 will be assessed as means?
Giving her assessed means of €52.75? So her personal rate will reduce to 133.75? then add back in the dependent rate of €29.80 for a total OPFA payment of €163.50
Is my understanding of that correct?
Or have I misunderstood the guidelines\sums?

€90 is the income disregard from January 1st.

As July Rain said the disregard from Jan will be changed. It very difficult to do OFP means because there are disregards for income.. and then for rent or mortage and then means are also applied for maintenance from the childs/childrens father. Your friend needs to contact her local office and let them know she has started working or else she will accrue an overpayment.

Also as she is working 20hrs a week she will be entitled to apply for FIS which will help bring back up what OPF deduct. FIS is a separate payment which cannot be means tested on her OPF.

She already has contacted them and given in a copy of her employment contract and will provide payslips when she receives them(new job pays monthly).

Thanks for that, I see with FIS she needs to provide her payslips and her last issued P60.
Her 1st payslip won't issue until late Dec, and with regards her P60 her most recent one is 2010 but when she has the needed paperwork she will apply for that too now.
    Thanks for the info.

For fis, just get work to fill out their part of the form and send it in, you can forward payslips when you get them.
