Hey I have a question about the Philippines for anyone who may have been there. There is no visa required for a 30 day stay however is there any other documents I am suppose to get? like some sort of entry document?

From my understanding all I need to produce at the philippines is proof of my return ticket and my passport. Is that correct?

    Cheers

Correct. The only condition is that the passport must be valid for 6 months after your departure date.

must have valid return ticket also. If you booked we same airline on same itinerary then no issue but if you got separate bookings you'll be asked to produce evidence of return flight during checkin with the first airline.

This is true, I flew into the Philippines this year one-way with Cebu Pacific and had my flight home booked with Etihad. However the Cebu Pacific airline staff refused to check me in before I could provide proof of my onward flights. I then had to make a mad rush to the only internet cafe in Bangkok airport to print out my Etihad Itinerary before they would issue me my boarding pass.

All you need is the print-out of onward travel to provide proof.

Another tip is to carry a biro on the flight as the airhostess's will hand out the incoming passenger card and customs declaration prior to arrival and as there is around 5mins of paperwork filling and this can save you trying to fill it before going through Passport control when you land.

The Philippines is an amazing place and although very underdeveloped and 3rd world the people there are very welcoming and almost all speak English to varying degrees of proficiency.

So I definately don't need any special documents other then passport and proof of onward flight? There is nothing I have to get from the Phillipines consular in Dublin before heading out?

Nothing just your Irish passport and proof of onward travel. Its a unique place and an eyeopener, have a good trip there!

It's good to know, I was just a little concerned before about that incase I made any last minute stupid mistakes and missed somthing which would have left me stranded at immigration.

My flight is Dublin - paris - hongkong - Cebu. It seems that I just only need my flight info and passport to get all the way there. Mad how there is no Visa requirments but I had a concern about hongkong though, sister said to me there might be a "waiver visa" before they allow me to go through the boarding gates for my cebu flight. I never heard of a waiver visa so it's worth asking I guess.

If you were visiting Hong Kong on its own you would get a 90 day visa-free entry which is a visa waiver. See Hong Kong on wikitravel

However as you are merely transiting Hong Kong enroute to the Philippines then most likely you will not even get your passport stamped in Hong Kong as you will have just transited Hong Kong Airport and never technically entered the country.

If you are flying independent separately booked flights you would need to enter Hong Kong eg. Paris to Hong Kong on Air France and Hong Kong to Cebu by Philippines airlines, this sort of booking would require you to reclaim luggage in Hong Kong, clear immigration (entering Hong Kong) and then checkin for the Philippines flight again; this poses all sorts of problems if one inbound flight was delayed etc. So it is allways better to make a combined booking for start to finish which will usually see your luggage checked through to the final destination also.

It sounds like you might booked with Aer Lingus and Cathay Pacific in which case you will transit Hong Kong and your baggage will checked through all the ways from Dublin to Cebu and you won't have reclaim it and recheckin in either Paris or Hong Kong, this is known as a baggage interline agreement between airlines.
