    Hi All,
i received an email from Optical Express with a €500 off ILasik eye surgery.
figured this was a good deal, combined with VHI i should get a decent amount off. Now i'm advised the i cannot get the discount & claim VHI.
surely this is incorrect but the girl i'm dealing with is adament that i cannot have both.
also would anyone mind sharing a rough idea of cost for iLasik sugery with Optical Express.
    thanks

You don't claim VHI - you just tell them you have health insurance and they offer you a discount because of it. It has nothing to do with the VHI, it's purely at the discretion of the clinic. It's just a discount they offer. If they're offering you another discount, they're entitled to disallow the first one - it's what most companies do.

yes Mousewar, you are correct, i have found out since then that VHI dont cover elective surgery such as laser eye surgery.
    thanks

I decided that I would look into getting laser on my eyes. First port of call was Optical Express Was taken into a room by a very pushy girl called Sharon. Right form the beginning she was pushing the procedure although I pretended not to notice. I had not made any other appointments with anyone else at that stage but she was so pushy I said I had an appointment with Optilaise on the Friday . She stared to bad mouth them in a nice way of course .. what a piece of work she is .This was Monday ..anyway long story short.. had my test all well to get it done went back to Pushy Sharon who told me of a great Deal for Jan 2795 AMAZING what a deal !!! for both eyes because this was such an "amazing" deal I wouldent get the VHI discount. ???? then it started "When would I ring" "when would I make up my mind" etc etc. I left feeling battered by her on the Wed she rang saying that the deal was gone... BUT she had made a special case to her manager and I could get it done if I made up my mind quickly by Friday ( appointment with Optilaise !!) , I noted to her that the deal was supposed to be for Jan this was the just the middel of the month .. Oh there is conditions attached she says .. I was so mad and peed off I then made an appointment with Optilaise who were good told me that I only neded to get one eye done as if I got both I would need reading glasses straight away ( note.. I was not give this option in OExpress or told that I would be exchanging one pair of glasses for another ) the optician told me to wear a contact lense in the eye I would get done to see if I got used to the sensation. OK great will do ..Pushy Sharon rang me about 8-10 times that week I did not reply. Have since gone to the Mater to Prof O Keefe suppose to be the Top man in Ireland who told me the same as Optilaise will prob go with him as if anything goes wrong the hospital will always be there ... still trying the one lense. My point here is....Optical Express failed to mention the one eye option .. were way too pushy for a medical procedure and the risk of getting 2 eyes done at the same time plus the fake selling of a great deal.. ethically cant be right.. With something like your eyes go to someone that can be trusted. Optical Express and the way the sell it its a big NO from ME Be gone Pushy Sharon who is probably on commission .. I am a civil servant not employed by anyone in the eye business in case people think I am ... and so... ends my story, by the way dont go by price its your eyes for Godsake..
