Good offer but what a dreadful name for a company.

Just looking at the voucher now and it doesn't say anything about it being valid for UK delivery only.

Saw this on a thread on here the other day and it worked for me.

If you have a parcel motel address put that as your billing address and use your normal Irish address as delivery address, you get free delivery to your Irish address :D

The other good thing about it is that for whatever reason I could never get their discount codes to work for me despite their customer service people saying that they should work for Irish customers but they work no problem when using the UK billing address.

Just make sure when you are on the account summary page that under my subscriptions you untick the boxes for newsletters and catalogues just in case they send them to the billing address.

And what happens when there's a mismatch between the billing address and the credit card address?

I don't know, they must not check it because I got 2 orders delivered to me with parcel motel as the billing address.

My worry was they would not get delivered but sure 2 annuals for £6 it's worth a shot

I'm not getting at you or anything like that, but Amazon and a few more outfits had a query for me when I put in my Parcel Motel address as the billing address.

I had my work address as my Amazon billing address for years without realising and never had a problem although the last two lines on my address were the same as my home address so I thought maybe that was all they checked because they never queried it with me but they didn't query it with the book people either and sent the two orders no problem, I did get a little worried when my first order was stuck at 'in progress' for a few days but there were no issues at all.

Here's the last thread where another poster used their Parcel motel address as the billing address.

Hi, tried this last night and wouldn't work, even with my parcel motel address (which would have cost another €3.50). opened an online chat and got sorted immediately. she gave me a code to try, which didn't work either, so asked would i mind putting through the order, giving her the number, and she would process a manual refund to my card for the €7.45. Also when I was ordering 2 of the special offer annuals, the offer wasn't kicking in so she added that to the refund. Def worth contacting them, excellent customer service :)

Glad you are happy with the customer service but I've made them aware of that issue several times with codes not working and their only answer is it should work and to tell me to go ahead and order and they will refund the difference....which I wasn't happy about, I would rather just be charged the correct amount in the first place.

Some of the people on the online chat seem to know so little about the company and how their checkout works that it seemed like they didn't even work there.

I just noticed they don't accept paypal either , how strange in this day and age

I know in the past I've availed of free delivery and posted bargains here. Unfortunately this has vanished on my account now. Like Camzor I opened an online chat. Transcript follows. I'm pretty happy with this as a result. Couldn't turn down £20 for the complete Peter Rabbit Collection in Hardback: http://www.thebookpeople.co.uk/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/qs_product_tbp?productId=174311&storeId=10001&catalogId=10051&langId=100&searchTerm=The+world+of+Peter+Rabbit

info: Hello and welcome, an advisor will be with you shortly.
info: You are now chatting with 'BookPeople'
BookPeople: How can I help you today?
Donnacha: I have a code LUCKY13 for free delivery but its not working
BookPeople: Has it accepted the code?
Donnacha: Yes, it keeps saying I have already applied the code
BookPeople: So when you place the order it will NOT charge you for delivery but it will still show the standard delivery.
Donnacha: No, when I put my credit card details in its looking to charge £7.45 for delivery
BookPeople: Oh I see. Irish customer do not get free delivery as we have to pay extra charges for carrier.
Donnacha: Sorry, the code doesn't say it doesn't work for Ireland? Some friends have had the £7.45 credited back manually.
BookPeople: I can refund some of the postage for you- our delivery charge of £2.95 if that would help?
Donnacha: No, I'm looking for free delivery. I have received it many times before if you look at my account history. I wouldn't pay for postage.
BookPeople: As we have changed Irish customer accounts to sterling we have also changed the delivery cost. I will refund the £7.45 this once for you.
    Donnacha: Thank you.
Karen: Can I take your customer number, name and first line of the address please?
    Donnacha: Here you go XXXXXXXXXXXXXX
BookPeople: thank you. Please place your order and then I will refund the postage as soon as it comes through to our system.
Donnacha: Thanks Karen. The order reference is XXXXXXXX
BookPeople: I shall refund your card now.
BookPeople: Is there anything else I can help you with today?
Donnacha: No thats all. Thanks for your help.

Now I've always had a sterling account (the Euro accounts are a rip-off) - so the reply about changing to sterling is nonsense. However I'm happy with the result.
