Bmw e38 new battery but no crack

    Hi all

    I have a BMW 730i 1994 and recent the battery went dead and I got a replacement. The problem is now when I try to start it the car there is no live in the engine. There is no crank, nothing, expect the interior lights come on and the electrics work but no life in engine. It worked fine before the battery died but now there is nothing.

    Can anyone please help and if anyone knows a mechanic in limerick who can work on these can you drop a line.

    So the new batt was working for a while but this morning it didn't crank the engine?
    Can you jump start car?

    Are you sure the battery being dead was the reason the car wouldn't start first time around? It could be a stuck starter solenoid - put one end of a piece of wood against the starter motor and hit the other end with a hammer.

    Is there a click when you turn the engine?
    When fault-finding, I find it best to go over what you did before the fault happened, retrace your steps and double check everything.
    If it worked before and now it doesn't, chances are it's something that was done/not done during the process.
    Something loose or disconnected is my guess.

    All I did was take out the old battery and stick in a new one and no there is no click coming from under the bonnet it just sits there with the lights lighting up but no go. I am thinking myself it is the immobilisers stopping the battery from sending current to the start motor.
