    Hey guys,
I moved into a new house and was looking forward to using my new fireplace. I'm used to having one or two levers next or inside the fireplace to open and close the flap and control the draft. Here in the new house there doesn't seem to be a lever. Is this normal?

    Here it is:

Thanks in advance for all helpful replies!

It's a standard fire rather than a back boiler fireplace that heats rads and have lever. Is that what you ment ? By a lever?

    Thanks for the reply.
With the lever I opened the damper I think it's called. But with this one I can see right into the chimney. However, this was also the case with a fireplace I had in another place and I always would have to pull a lever on the side for the chimney to open and the smoke to escape. So what I'm asking is: is it normal that this type of fireplace doesn't have a lever to open the chimney?

99.99% of fires are like yours. Dampers were only on realy old fireplace and proberly killed a lot of people with fumes. If that's what you had ?
