Low attendance hence no grant?

A family member is panicing that they won't get their grant this month as their attendance level was below the required amount for october as they hadn't the money for travel until they received their grant at the end of the month. Is there any leeway for the first couple of months or are they very strict about this?…

It's the monthly payment as they are doing a PLC course.
