Pre-purchase inspections & Structural Surveys

    Hi All,

    I wonder has anyone heard of an AIB list of pre-approved surveyors when it comes to pre-purchase inspection of house?

    I know that AIB have a list of pre-approved surveyors for valuing property but would'nt have thought there's a separate list of professionals for pre-purchase surveys of houses? It would be reasonable and wise to demand that the architect/ engineer/ surveyor inspecting property has Professional Indemnity insurance of course.

    If there is such a list, how does one get on listed on it?

    Any advice much appreciated.

    Actually going through the process at the moment.

    I'm not aware of any such list for professionals carrying out surveys/inspections or if this is an actual requirement by the bank such as the valuation. The bank certainly did not ask me to carry out a survey, however, my solicitor strongly recommended it. The valuation was a requirement by the bank before they would draft the legal docs for the mortgage.

    And yes, adequate PI is a must.
