Firebird Silverpac CR20 Boiler wont start

Hi I have a Firebird Silverpac CR20 outdoor boiler and for the last couple of weeks it has not started on and off but usually a couple of attempts with the timer boost button got it going.

However now it wont start at all when boost is pressed on the timer switch. I've tried the big red reset button on the boiler and the rest button on the boiler thermostat but no joy.

The boiler isnt making any sound at all so basically is there anything else I can try before calling the plumber. Thanks.

If it's zoned make sure the thermostats are all calling for heat, if they are i would suspect you have a dodgy timer.

Thanks is there any way I can confirm its the timer rather than the boiler.

The timer switches on the circulating pump at the same time as the boiler, presuming all stats are calling for heat the pump should also be running.

If the reset on the burner is not illuminated then the burner is fine, if the pump is running then you could possibly have a thermostat issue, (boiler is cold!)check for power there, if competent to do so, the fact that the timer has been an issue would be a signal, or possible wiring fault.

The reset on the burner is not lit up so thats ok then. The pump isnt running there isnt a sound out of any thing in the boiler. Timer switch lights up as normal.

And all internal stats calling for heat ?

There are a few other things you could check but they will lead to the same thing, Electrician or good plumber.

Had time to have a look at this today and its the timer switch that's the problem.
When I press the boost button the clock lights up as normal but it won't turn on the boiler. If i give it a tap with my hand the boiler starts. I thought this pointed to a loose connection but they all look ok.
The other thing i notice is the clock stays lit up all the time now. The timer is less than a year old so Im wondering if anyone has any ideas.
By the way the timer is a Sauter T17

Edit The backlight was staying on because it went back to default after the power was off so I've sorted that.

Anybody got any ideas on this or is it a case of having to replace the timer surely it should last longer than eleven months though. Thanks

As i previously said, you need an Electrician or good Plumber, it could be bad wiring or timer but nothing further you can do with proper equipment to test it.
