He guys,I was involved in a knock last week and I have some damage to the front left of my car.

Basically the bumper and side panel are getting replaced no bother but the auditor has a problem replacing/fixing a scuff on my alloy.

Its a polished alloy .The man at the garage told me because its minimal damage and the alloy has another scuff on the other side he wont cover it.

I don't believe its minimal damage and I would like to get it sorted.

Has anybody any advise for me how to proceed?

The way I'm looking at it is ,if it happened during the crash then it should be covered, regardless if there is another scratch on the other side of the wheel.

I've attached a few pictures and I'd be grateful for some advice.

    Thanks

    Who's paying for the repairs?

If you're claiming off someone else you're entitled to get the car fixed where ever you want, to a standard you are satisfied with.

If you were to go to another garage they might give you a quote for all the repairs without specifically mentioning alloy refurb in the quote... ;)

are you saying they are claiming its not damaged from accident and wont cover it for that reason?

My insurance company is paying for the repairs,as I was the person who hit the other party..

I didnt think it mattered who was paying though,I thought that you get the car fixed to a standard you are satisfied with either way.

    Cheers for the reply

are you saying they are claiming its not damaged from accident and wont cover it for that reason?

The garage told me today that the damage was very small and that there was another scuff on the wheel so they wont cover it,

As you can see from the picture its not that small and I would think that they would fix it..

Im stuck as to what to do next

Are they saying it may not be a result of the accident as the other side has the same damage?

so its out of your own insurance? I dunno if i would be getting that done then, not worth the increase in renewal it will cause. You would get it cheaper directly with a company yourself...

No,they know it was done by the accident, they just dont think it significent enough to get fixed

The other claimant want to get their car done on my insurance so its out of my hands.
As they are going with the insurance side of things I might aswell get my car sorted as I'll have a claim against me either way next year

I suspect what they are saying is that because there is prior damage, they cant fix it without fixing all the damage, and your insurance is not going cover repairs that did not result from the accident. Basically, insurance is there to put the car to the way that it was before the accident, not improve it to a better state.

No thats not what they are saying djimi, although I can fully understand where you are coming from,

They are saying the damage is insignificant and it doesn't warrant being repaired...
