    hey guys,
    Just curious,

This comes up from time to time in the Atheism & Agnosticism forum when some crazy person posts about how there's a gay agenda when it comes to country's/state's making gay marriage legal.

its pretty amusing but clearly they think there is some sort of agenda, I'm not sure what they think this is. Perhaps?

    1. Make gay marriage legal
    2. Make more people gay
    3. ????
    4. Profit?

I'm sure many people here at one time or another have had fools shout nonsense at them about gay agenda's or perhaps its come up in this forum from time to time, what do they think this agenda is? :)

In all honesty I see these people as the same sorts of people that were against mix raced marriages in 1950's America and most of them have some sort of religious background behind their backward views,

I'm guessing most anti-gay marriage people likely have the same religious basis for being against it....but perhaps there's something non religious? (doubting it though)

The KKK in the 50s would have been one of the main driving forces in the US, campaigning for the hatred and segregation of blacks. No surprise to know that they are a devout Christian organisation. Hitler was also a Christian, so it doesn't necessarily make people good, but can be a common denominator among the hate groups, banging their drums against Gay Marriage.

I don't see Marriage Equality as an agenda, but a right. I think the Christians are worried that we might want to walk down the aisle before their God in luminous hot pink suits, while riding unicorns that fart rainbows as we feast on their babies.

The Gay Agenda is a mythical beast, much like the PC Brigade or the oft heard falsehood "I'm not allowed talk about this on boards/this is out of bounds etc".

It's usually brought into an argument by the sort of person who sees conspiracies everywhere and that somehow, gay equality is not a right but an inconvenience to them.

Here is a sample of my gay agenda. I think it's important to be transparent about these things, especially when the nations children are at stake.

    1) Wake up.

    2) Shower. Spend inordinate amount of time on my hair (first main element of 'gay' business. This is CRUCIAL for lesbians, guys I can't stress this enough.)

    3) Look for jobs. Ones where I can use my experience of doing evil gay things, because like all other gays, I wish to only work and mingle with other gays. You know, to help with the armies we're amassing. (You know, my social work qualification, 13+ years working with volunteer groups and people with disabilities. All that evil, immoral stuff)

    4) Buy milk.

BEHOLD THE GAY AGENDA IN ALL ITS GLORY!!!!

I wanted to be funny I really did but Wikipedia is so much easier:-
Homosexual agenda (or gay agenda) is a term introduced by some conservative Christians in the United States, often used disparagingly to describe the advocacy of cultural acceptance and normalization of non-heterosexual orientations and relationships. The term refers to efforts to change government policies and laws on LGBT rights related issues. The term has also been used by some social conservatives and others to describe alleged goals of LGBT rights activists, such as 'recruiting' heterosexuals into what they term a 'homosexual lifestyle'.[1]

It's all about being fab! On another note, anyone want to go knocking on Christians doors and ask them if they'd like to talk about the gay?

A fear that more people will become gay I think. Some people still think it's contagious or it can brought on by society.

The gay agenda is to recruit more people to gayness, particularly children through subliminal messaging. childrens tv show are a common medium as they are all written by gays.

    BEWARE!!!!!

In my opinion the gay agenda may be a global policy soon as there are too many people on the planet f**king it up.
Lets all go gay and save the planet!!!!!

Ok, I know this is a light-hearted thread but I take issue with this.
Assuming religion fuels homophobia is the same as assuming sexual-orientation fuels goals, thus, the "gay agenda"

    Just a casually religious homosexual's opinion :)

In fairness I see were you are coming from,

But you can't argue with the most common argument used against gay people and the fact its generally "god said its bad".

Even if somebody doesn't use these words, 9 out of 10 times they are still religious and they say being gay is wrong. Good odds this view also came from religious teachings....cause these teachings sure as hell don't say its ok to be gay.

Hmm OK, I think that a lot of homophobia comes from an elitist attitude which, I suppose, is not that far from an "I am holier than thou" attitude. Of course, a zealot isn't going to give hugs to gays but the adjective religious shouldn't be synonymous with narrow- mindedness.

I'd like to think a lot of Christians would take the "you have no right to pass judgment on others" and "we are all created equal" teachings to their hearts, which to be fair a lot of people do.

As an atheist, I can only say this.

WE INVENTED FEASTING ON BABIES! GIVE IT BACK, THAT'S OUR THING!

*Ahem* it's not the 50's lads :pac:, I know several LGBT christians(myself included) and I'm tired of people constantly stating that it's "Christians VS Teh Gay" all the time. There is no war going on "There are approximately 41,000 Christian denominations and organizations in the world.*" so I really don't see the reasoning behind this way of thinking when so many denominations are accepting of gay people.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/LGBT-affirming_Christian_denominations

Claiming that most christians are homophobic is just lazy stereotyping and completely offensive.

That's my two cents and I'm leaving it there as I do not want to derail the thread.

    .

Religions have often treated women, children and homosexuals disgracefully. The history, for example, of the RC church is a lesson on intolerance, murder, torture and demonising whole sections of the population. When the RC church was strong it behaved very much like islam does in countries where it is stong today, such as Afganistan and Iran.

The gay agenda used to be about equality and acceptance, and mostly this has been achieved, so there is no one gay agenda anymore.
