    Hi all,

Ive been lucky enough to secure 10 hours in a vec school today for the rest of the year. My issue is that Ive an interview tomorrow for a 22hr contract in a school much closer and its private. Which would you go for? Ive worked in private schools and feel that there may be more job prospects in the vec as its a growth school. Please help :)

Can you go to the interview tomorrow and see how it goes? If you're successful in that interview, then decide.

Yeah no need to worry until you have been offered the second job. Go for the one that gives you the most hours because they are both maternity leaves anyway.

Depends on your own financial situation too I suppose,(22 is greater than 10 afterall!!) However you could take a punt if you think that the VEC school is going to grow then you could sweat it out for a bit (create a good impression and all that).
The schools in the Fee Charging sector might be feeling the pinch lately with the increased PTR and redeployment issues... so it might be a case of bumping up hours of people in before yourself first before getting back to you next year. Maybe consider how 'popular' your subject is too within the school.
VEC should contribute towards a DEPT. pension (for what thats worth these days!) whereas if you are school paid (find out in the interview!) then your service doesn;t count.
