    Tough start for Lowry.

I though this was a two man team competition however caught the end of a discussion on the Golf channel last night which mentioned something about it being a single comp as well. Any know how this work?

AFAIK its now more of an individual competition than a team one. There is 8 million in prize money with 7 mill goingbto the individual comp and 1 mill goingvto the team comp.

The format will return to 72 holes of stroke play, with individual players competing for US$7 million of the US$8 million prize fund. The top two-ranked players from each country will compete for the team event, using combined stroke play scores.

Thanks gents- so a single and team event in one.

They were talking about something to do with the Olympics on Golf channel last night as well, is this the format they are going to use?

Olympics 2016, Golf will be a 72-hole individual stroke play tournament. Men and Women in seperate events.

I think there was an individual award in this event before, but the team award took priority over it. Seems like it's the opposite now.

7 mill compared to 1 mill would seem to indicate that alright.

This is a truly terrible event.

Not enjoying the golf at all at the moment! Not least because it's on at crazy hours but also the Irish contingent are not really competing!

But one of the best golf courses you will ever see anywhere in the world, best bunkering anywhere IMO

This is a truly terrible event.

Should have just left it as was, whats the point in having a team event when Gmac and Lowry arent even paired together, and some countries (Fiji) are only supplying one player.

Bit of a mess, I know the format is something like what will happen for the Olympics but in fairness that format doesn't really need a test run, its still 72 hole strokeplay.

    Go Jason Day!!

I'd love to see him get up here. After what he's been through these past weeks.

I played it 15 years ago and the difficulty of the greens stood out for me. Size, slope and speed. More than once I came of the green saying "I hit 3 bloody good putts on that green":D
I think I even 4 putted from 15 feet on one of them
