the guy who does our hoofcare has a young lad that does a couple of days a week for him, he has his own crush and jeep, would the guy you are training with be interested in something similar?

a good hoof trimmer is hard found and they are always up the walls busy. but you have to get the fancy hydraulic stall etc to look the part. if you get into a few big herds you cant start doing months calls.

our hoofcare man is coming on friday, he will do afew lame cows, castrate a couple of weanlings, dehorn 20 calves and skull 2 heifers that where missed earlier in the year. Never in a million years would we get all that done ourselves in a few hours

The hoof parer that comes here insist on using his own crush as he says, and rightly so, that the cows know something is up when you start going to your own crush, he sets up in corner of the shed and works away!

He had a very simple crush and it worked well, everything was manual but he could do everything he needed with the cow with it. He changed up to a hydraulic wopa i think and it is some job, but i wouldn't think any less of him if he had the basic yoke still,

My point i dont feel you need to have the massive fancy crush, simple straight forward one and good workman ship/ manner with the cows will get you the work and with time you can upgrade yourself!
    Best of luck with it!

Costs are against dealing and hauling at the min in my opinion
Would only really work if you were there on business anyway
