He is a nice fella but he does not fix kango's !!! I phoned him and asked if he fixed kango's and he said yes, I travelled 100 miles round trip. When I walked in and asked him to take it in and explained I had spoke to him on the phone he said" no we don't fix that type of kango" it's a KANGO brand 110v pretty much just a kango ......... He said to bring it to Sam hire at belgard or somewhere so don't know what to do now. I would go back to him but would clarify that he actually works on the exact tool that I have giving him model number serial number etc etc. To me a Kango is a Kango if I had a hitachi or something that I would have said. I am now €€€€€€€ out of pocket on petrol and back to square one.

Sorry to hear that BigDavey, I too would have thought Kango meant Kango.
If you are still in the area A-Z hire Walkinstown can give you a price for repairing (I rang them first to ask) 01-4502915.

I've also bought recon tools off this bloke. He works out of a garage behind his house. No problems with anything that I bought. Watch out for his Bichon Frieze or Maltese terrier. A kinda territorial :D

Im Jimmy Fennell, I signed onto this site today , was browsing and came across your thread.sorry we were unable to help you with your product. When we get a call about Kango or other brands we are not service agents for, we generally advise that all we can do is perhaps replace the cable, brushes and do minor repairs. If the problem is with the motor or gears then my experience is that the item may not be worth fixing.

With say a Kango 950, this model has visually remained similar, but internally modification have been made over the years, outwardly the only difference is the switch handle at the back is a different color and the bulk of the exterior look identical over the years. The plastic handle at the back has changed colour many times since I first attended training courses run by Kango in Ireland This may have explained why the one we were working on was a recent model requiring a minor repair and the one you had may have been an older machine that we recognized from the handle cover color.

In that case we would have referred you to Paragon Ltd (now no longer trading) on the Belgard road who were the then Kango agents in case they may have parts for the older models on the shelf.

We would have referred you to D.W Repairs if D.W Repairswere still agents as D.W are a very reputable company

Next time you are in with us mention to me this thread and I will do my very best for you with our quote as a gesture of good will.

    Jimmy

Thanks for that I will mention it next time I am in. I still have the Kango and have not got it fixed yet. I am thinking of having a go at it myself to see if it is an obvious fix. It turns on the motor runs etc it just does not vibrate that's all so I was hoping it might be something obvious broken when I open it up and I might be able to get the part on the powertool spares website etc
