Exposure Bracketing on Nikon P500

    Hi

Over the past few months I got really interested in photography. The more I started to learn about exposure, lights etc the more fun it is.

I got a Nikon Coolpic P500 for a while now and started experimenting with High Dynamic Range etc even bought a Tripod.

The camera has Aperture Priority Auto and here is where I get confused.
When I chose that setting I can see on the display that it takes 3 pictures but only one is saved on the memory card or internal storage.
So my understanding is for HDR you need 3 pics at different exposure. If I want to do that I need to go back into menu and change exposre to 0.3 / 0.7 / 1.0 manually. Thing is everytime I touch the camera to change settings there is a minimal move on the camera and the whole thing becomes rather useless.

Any thoughts of ideas on this one?

( I have never had hands on that camera the following is based on second hand information.)

It does do bracketing and pops up in the manual on page 94 (http://www.nikonusa.com/pdf/manuals/kie88335f7869dfuejdl=-cww2/P500_EN.pdf)

That said if it's set to do HDR then it should be taking multiple images and then producing one HDR composite and one D-Light image. I'm not entirely sure what D-Light is, hazarding a guess it maybe the camera trying to boost the dynamic range without taking multiple shots to composite.

Is it taking the time to shoot all the exposures before displaying the one or is it behaving as if it's just taken normal exposure and does the shot look like it's had it's dynamic range expanded?

    Thanks Alltherage

It does take 3 shots but only displays (and stores) one and it doesn't look like that one is any different than if I would take a picture with any other selection or the standart setting.

Beginning to think there is a fault on the camera as some other menues have a mind on it's own.

Page 94 is for multiple shots for timelapse, it is not shots at different exposures for HDR
