Average Jan temps in the area range from -6 to +2

But could fluctuate down to -10 Soll village is 700 m or so and the top is lower than 2,000 so the weather is not that vicious or bad

Jan 22nd last year was -20 at the Middlestation in Soll.

January can be COLD- but it gets milder as the day goes on & you guys won't be up too high (and prob won't be up to early either lol), so just bring decent gear & plenty of layers and you'll be fine. Good gloves esp.

    :-)

I find the cold doesn't really seem as cold in Austria - if you get me! The air is so dry, that it doesn't conduct as efficiently as here. So while you're walking around at home with the cold going deep into your bones, you could be over in Austria 10 deg lower with just a hoodie walking around town.

I usually wear one wicking base layer + jacket and I bring a light fleece in my backpack in case I need it. I've never needed it!
