Insurance with Zurich

    Hi guys,
Just wondering what insurance companies you would recommend for cheap and reliable insurance?

Had taken out a policy with Zurich back in September, all was going well, got a great quote and paid the deposit. The lady told me that I needed to send in proof of my no claims and the direct debit mandate, and had 28 days to do so. Now during this time, my dad was seriously ill and was admitted to hospital and the forms were the last thing I was thinking about. I rang Zurich on the 28th day to see if I could get one extra day to get the stuff sent in. The lady on the phone explained I had a little bit more time and that they'd send more letters that I hadn't received and a registered letter. I sent in the no claims cert, along with my direct debit details and waited for them to send my disc. Last week, I recieved a notice that I had missed a registered letter and to pick it up but at that time it did not apply to me as the forms had been sent in. This week, still no disc and no money taken. I rang them today to ask why I haven't received my disc and why haven't they taken the money, and she turns around and tells me They didn't get any details and so they cancelled my policy.

I'm raging. I was only saving about 20 euro going with them in the first instance, if you factor in 15 euro to get the proof of no claims and now the inconvenience and expense of setting up a new policy, you'd wonder why you'd bother.

All the lady suggested I do was take out a new policy with them, and risk the same happen again, which I don't think!

Driving 8 years and Zurich is the only company I had a problem with, so can anyone offer me any advice on any other insurance companies

Any insurance company would have cancelled your policy if they didn't receive the proof of NCB and DD mandate within 28 days.

I understand that, however short of personally delivering the documents myself I don't understand what more I could have done, and there was no attempt made to contact me by phone to advise the policy was being cancelled. Despite the letter being sent, which I assumed was sent before they recieved my documents.

Now, I'm just looking for advice on other insurance companies.

You need to shop around for the best quote. Take out the Golden Pages and ring every ins co and a good selection of brokers.
