Some nightclub in Dublin entitled C.U.N.T told their 'hipster' *shudder* customers that they were taking their photos but instead were making a video taking the p1ss basically of their pouting and generally cringey poses. Recognise anyone? The pierced woman at the end especially must be morto.
The clubbers were filmed by organisers of the controversially-named club night C U Next Tuesday (abbreviated to C**T), and the final montage is set to the song You're So Vain by Carly Simon.
The young men and women stick their tongues out, pout, pretend to scream and laugh uproariously, and it's all captured on camera in a video entitled 'Incredibly awkward montage of C***s.'

A club up here in Letterkenny had a mirror at the top of the stairs after the cloakroom so all the guys and gals would stop at it, adjust the make up, make faces, apply more make up, fix themselves etc before walking in.

Then they would find it was a 2 way mirror and there was always a heap of people on the other side pissing themselves laughing at the sight

I don't get why people think that posing for a photo is strange. They look like twits but so are most people when really drunk and in a nightclub.

Obligatory "it's a disgrace" and "scumbags" post.

Or do the same thing (don't tell people it's a video) to provoke fun and laughter with them instead of at them.

If it was done in good spirit it would have been funnier, the c#nt thing and mocking them leaves a little nasty after taste.

They look ridiculous, but so would anyone looking into a camera waiting for a picture to be taken, nightclub or not. Some of them are just smiling normally, but still look gormless.

While some of the victims act it up for the camera, others just look a bit sad and lonely. Very mean-spirited of the video maker.

that's their thing though - they want to LOOK sad and lonely - it's part of whatever weird anti-cool thing they think, ironically, is cool...

Everybody poses for a photo. Fair enough, some people go extreme with it but wanting to look 'your best' in a photo is fairly common. To label people hipsters because of it is ridiculous.

You could pull that video/photo trick in any nightclub in the country with similar results though. They're being called hipsters for doing what everybody does. Isn't the whole point of being a hipster that they are 'cool, unique and fashionable'? Maybe that's why they're so annoyed about it.

C.U.N.T in Lost Society in Dublin. Great craic. The people are fairly hipster-y though :L I know one of the guys in the video I think, although it's hard to tell. They tend to look the same!

I hate this type of shit. It's like everytime you go outside someones trying to publicly humiliate you. Some of those people were just smiling for a photograph, what the fuck else were they supposed to do?

The club night is called ****, the video wasn't intended to offend or humiliate anyone I don't think.

You call out a hipster club and someone will invariably try and deny it. Give it a rest.

One question, why is this nightclub trying to huniliate their customers. Now I'm no marketing guru but surely this is a PR nightmare for them or are they going for the whole any publicity is good publicity thing.
Most of these people don't look like hipsters either though, do they?

Aren't hipsters supposed to be ironic and anti mainstream? This seems like neither.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,734 ✭✭✭✭osarusan

Can't believe the club would do this to its own customers.

    Hopefully backfires on them.

Most people are just posing normally, yet made to look stupid, like anybody would.

    They'll probably go goth now.

Now that they got something to cut themselves over.

no, but anyone who isn't wearing a Ben Sherman check-shirt, bootcut Levis and brown shoes these days seems to be a "hipster" apparently....

Yeh there are specific hipster traits all right, like the irony thing, and the superior "coolness"/anti mainstream stuff (although that has always been around) but a lot of the time, it's just used as a derogatory term for anything non mainstream that the person saying it doesn't like.

The guys wearing skinny jeans and cardigans, geeky shirts, geeky glasses etc thing - that probably started out as hipster but it's across the board now. The look was around 15/20 years ago too, from Jarvis Cocker and his imitators.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,909 ✭✭✭Neeson

Why do that to their own customers. There'll be many a man with a camera in a club told to fu.ck off now.

Less photos = less creeping material.

    There are no winners here.
