    Hello all,

The old man has recently sold his '05 diesel Avensis. Needs to pick up something reasonably quick. Both parents are retired, but they still clock up reasonable miles. 15,000 per annum minimum.
Budget is €8,500 but not too strict could go to 9,500 for the right motor.
    Would prefer diesel.
Dad has a bee in his bonnet it has to be the cheap tax so minimum '08
    Prefer a mid size saloon/hatch/estate i.e Octavia/Mondeo etc

Considering having a look at the car below. Any thoughts on this?

    Any other suggestions appreciated.

Octavia is actually a hatchback and from the class below the Mondeo/Avensis and more a rival to a Golf or Auris. That particular car is a UK import so make sure that the claimed service history is verifiable, i.e. ring the garages that serviced it. Also make sure to do the usual background checks.

    Scratch this thread.!
He agreed a deal on a nicely kept Mondeo this morning.
'08 1.8 diesel, with 1 owner from new. Retired couple traded it in against a '12 Mondeo.
Mayo car from new (where Dad lives)
75k miles with full history and all receipts for work from day one.
