PGA TourCaddie App

Wow, anyone that has used a GPS app or Golhshot is going to be impressed with the PGA TourCaddie App.

Hopefully the PGA releasing this is a sign that the R&A are going to deem smart phones as complying.
This App may explain the recent hassle we've been having with Golfshot.

I've just downloading it there and I "signed in" with my golfshot details. All my previous rounds are there.
It's golfshot with a GPS function.
There are flyovers of each hole (Grange Castle is there soI'm assuming most clubs will be) which is pretty cool.
It also gives distances to hazzards etc.
    Lots of other extras too.

    Very impressive, and free.

Sorry lads, I didn't know that it wasn't available for Android, hope they get it up for you soon enough.

Some great features on it, dynamic flyovers of each hole. I've searched a load of Irish courses and they are all set up on it.
(Finally got to see the Par 3, opening hole at the Grange :D )

Flyover demo is at 2:44 but worth a watch of the full thing to see whats on offer.
Here's a review: it is from the makers of Golfshot btw.

Maybe have a quick look in Settings -> General -> Software Update to make sure there isn't an update pending.
I think you need to be on iOS 7.0.4
    (You've probably already checked)

I had an update pending there last week and it wasn't showing up as a notification alert (thingy)
You need to have over 50% battery... I never do :)

This might sound stupid but delete the app, reboot your phone, redownload the app and try again.

Try swingbyswing for android. GPS distance etc are all there for free.

That's some app, quality. Just had a look at it there, the fly over of the holes is seriously accurate.

whatever about golfshot but im pretty sure this is illegal for competition as it recommends a club to use which is a no-no for any dmd. i think. i have the app as i got it free because i have golfshot. so didnt have to pay anything. havent really used it tho as i quite like golfshot

Wrong. You can now look at weather reports but if your phone has a compass, it is still illegal to use as a DMD.

    *Edit - not wrong*

    No Sir, apologies to you.

Hidden deep in the list of decisions here http://www.randa.org/en/RandA/News/News/2013/November/~/media/RandA/Related%20Documents/2013/Amendments%20to%20the%202012-2013%20Decisions%20on%20the%20Rules%20of%20Golf_WEB%20POST(2).ashx

    is the following...

    "
    14-3/4
    Use of Compass During Round

    Q. A player uses a compass during a stipulated round to help determine the
direction of the wind or the direction of the grain in the greens. Is the player
    in breach of Rule 14-3?

    A. No. A compass only provides directional information and does not gauge
or measure variable conditions or assist the player in his play. (Revised)"

Off topic here... so will discuss it on the rule change thread.
