Advice on housing

    Hey,
I'm a 22 year old trans woman. I've been given eviction notice due to owner looking to reduce number of tenants.

I was lucky in that my sister found the current house for me, but now that I'm looking for myself it seems like a wiser idea to look for trans friendly housing. I don't know if there are any services or groups in the community to help lgbt people find safe housing?

I've been looking on daft for a place to live but every time it states they're looking for women they exclusively mean cis women. I'd rather not have to deal with this kind of transphobia so I thought I'd ask and see if anyone knew of a better way.

    Thanks

Maybe ask TENI if they have any advice

It was so much easier to blame it on Them. It was bleakly depressing to think that They were Us. If it was Them, then nothing was anyone's fault. If it was us, what did that make Me? After all, I'm one of Us. I must be. I've certainly never thought of myself as one of Them. No one ever thinks of themselves as one of Them. We're always one of Us. It's Them that do the bad things.

Maybe you should consider becoming the Lead tenant of a house and then it would be up to you to find your fellow housemates! So you could interview them and decide who you get to live with!! This way give you more control !! You might even find some friend or acquaintances who would be looking to move and might move in with you!

I've never had a problem with being trans and not finding a place before, it must be hard for you. I'm currently living in an apartment and my landlord couldn't care what gender I am as long as I keep paying rent. I'm not sure there are many lgbt specific friendly places to live as its all relative but you might try talk with your local community welfare officer
