The CAO Handbook says you may have to apply directly to some HEIs if you ever lived outside the EU, but gives no more information on that.

    Anyone know:
    a) Which HEIs require that?
    b) Why it's any of their business where I, an EU national, have lived?

Having contacted a number of HEIs, they all basically said that so long as you've lived in the EU three of the last five years, you should apply through the CAO.

DCU said to apply through the CAO if you completed second level in Ireland, UCC said if you have lived in Ireland for 5 years, you're considered to be a normal EU applicant, but to contact their fees email to be sure. Take those for what you will.
