    Hi guys

I'm 29, started a new job last month so contacted the social to cancel my Jobseekers claim 3 weeks ago.

Anyways, unfortunately I've been let go now so am just wondering what my options are?

I have no source of income now so am I able to sign back on?

    Cheers

Hard luck on losing the job. If you left the job of your own accord or were dismissed, I think you'll have to wait some time before applying. However, if you were made redundant you are entitled to apply for benefits right away.

Go in and apply straight away. If you left the job it'll take a little longer but if you were let go or whatever it should only be a couple of weeks. The main thing is to go in to them as soon as possible with all your bits and pieces. ID, PPS, P45, etc

I was in hospital but because I never contacted them or got anyone on my behalf to contact them, they let me go.

The letter they sent said they were putting it down as me resigning :-/

I'll pop in tomorrow with my Passport and PPS card.

    Fingers crossed

I'm sorry, but why didn't you at least get someone to call work? Your family/friends must've known where you were. You would also have been able to get a doctor's note. It's not difficult!! No wonder your employer thought you'd resigned...

And even worse news for you. If Welfare deem you've resigned, then it'll be a NINE week wait for dole. They'll discount those weeks.

You'd best get the paperwork in to Welfare ASAP, then shoot round to the CWO. They'll pay you whilst your claim's sorted.

What is the CWO exactly and what do I have to do?

Thanks for your reply by the way :)

Bring proof that you've made a claim for Jobseeker's together with your ID. They'll cross-check on Welfare's system and make arrangements to pay you.

    I have a similar problem.

If I'm going down to sign on again, what do I need?

Passport/Proof of address/pps social welfare card?

Go in to the SW office - bring everything you think you might need, id, proof of address, p45 etc etc. They'll let you know in there if you need anything else.

I'd then go to see your local Community Welfare Officer, who should be able to get you sorted out with money until your sw claim is processed.
