Missus needs to sell her car because she is going to travel for a couple of months.

It's a Fiat Grande Punto Dynamic Plus 16V 1.4 2007 second owner, show model and has all the gizmos. Low mileage around 30k miles. Nice car and not a bit of bother with it since she got it. It's similar to

but higher spec, nicer seats and more extras.

I tried one website online but felt the price was significantly lower than private sellers on carzone.ie

Not sold a car before, what's the best approach?

    Cheers,
    X

donedeal.ie is where the footfall is for private sales. Unfortunately you may find that it is also a breading ground for tyre kickers and people with more time on their hands than money in their pocket. A fact of life when selling most things these days.

If she wants it gone quickly then she has to be prepared to price it wisely and undercut other similar cars out there. Photos and description need to be good too otherwise potential buyers will just skim over it no matter where it is advertised or how cheap it is.

Most important, get good quality photos of the car, not up close blurry ones
(and make sure the background looks good too)

State if it has a good NCT and if it has, mention all service history

Then its just a waiting game....

    Grand good tips.

I'll get her to take some pictures of it and try on donedeal. I reckon she would be negotiable with the price but doesn't want to give it away either!

What I'll probably do is try and sell it while she is away, more time to see what the interest is. Doesn't seem to be too many 1.4 16 models around. I drove the 1.2 and found it very sluggish 1.4 has more pep to it.

If you want a quick sale you have to put up a good ad with description and photos of everything.
Then price it right, so undercutting most.

If you are not desperate to sell, do the first part and see what happens.

You'll want to start out by looking up similar spec cars and how much they go for. I'd ignore the trader ones, as they give guarantee's but are more expensive.
Start out by posting it on DoneDeal. Include info about service history, NCT, Tax, etc. Inc. if you want swaps or not. Otherwise you'll get idiots offering cars half the price, that are barely running for it.
Get good pictures in the day light. Get pictures of the inside. Make sure and give the car a wash before taking any pictures.
You're going to get idiots coming out for a spin, with no interest at all in buying the car. I'm selling my BMW, and I've had two lads come out and tell me they had no money. Both young chaps. No really way to filter them out. Sold a few cars, and it's happened with them all.
If you want to sell quick, you'll have to drop your price below similar spec models. If you can wait, price is in and around the same price.
After that, you'll have to wait.

If you can afford to wait and are happy to do the selling, then without a doubt do that, no point in selling yourself short unnecessarily.
