Is there such a thing as a general rule of thumb for rough conversion of live weight to dead weight

There are a lot of variables, age, breed, condition, sex etc. But I suppose if you assume a KO% of 55% you're probably in the ballpark for good stock.

Depending on breed I work of kill out 52% hex aax and 55% continental.Divide live weight by 100 and multiply by those percentages to give estimate of dead weight.Hope that helps

Half her live weight and hope she does a shake more.
Cows can do anything, but often less than ya think.
