The rig I have was built in summer '09 and apart from a 128gb SSD and new graphics card last year, its unchanged. I usually spend a few quid around this time of year on new tech and I was wondering what would be a good bang for buck addition to what I've got.

    Heres what I have:
    Asus P6T Deluxe V2 mobo
    Core i7 920
    6gbs Corsair DDR3
    128gb Crucial SSD
    150gb WD 10k rpm HDD
    Radeon HD 7950 3gb
    Audio - HIFI headphones
Monitor - Samsung 24" Syncmaster LCD

Performance isnt really a problem at the moment, I can run most recent games at near max settings (a few concessions normally needed to get them smooth at 1920x1200)

In an effort to future proof I originally went with a Core i7 920 and a very overclockable Asus Mobo. I could have toned down a bit to save some money but as it stands I cant see this combo needing changing anytime soon. Heat is an issue obviously and it probably sucks alot more power than newer chips but there's hardly anything to be gained by switching at this stage......?
I got a SATA 3 PCI card to get around the lack of it on the motherboard, so I can get the most of the read/write speeds.

My SSD's size is a minor annoyance though as Im normally having to delete something to install something. At the moment, I try to put any intensive new games on that and I have a lot of older stuff installed on the HDD. I read here that larger 240gb+ SSDs perform better generally so maybe thats the road to go.
I dont overtax the system trying to do 100 things at once, its primarily gaming so I think the 6gb of DDR3 is fine as is but some opinions on that would be good.

My budget would be around the 300e mark, could stretch a bit more if it was really worth it.

It may come down to a bigger quicker SSD or an IPS monitor. If both can be got for the money Im willing to spend, that'd be great. Would anyone recommend an IPS screen over what Ive got. I was happy enough but from reading some reviews it seems IPS is a big leap up. Since they go for less than 150e, it might be a good upgrade. Ive noticed most of them reviewed are 1080p panels. Is the loss in resolution negated by the other benefits? I always thought when I got a new monitor it would be one with a higher native res, not a lower one! :D

Any ideas or thought would be great.

Think I should have put a TL:DR on the end of that!

Anyway Ive narrowed it down to an IPS panel or a 120hz TN panel.

Does anyone here have a 120hz monitor or have experience of both? Be interested to hear your thoughts.

It seems like Id be better off with IPS as Im not a mad FPS gamer. Mostly SP games which dont need (but might benefit from) the higher refresh. The other thing is, is their anything to be gained from 120hz if you are playing games at 50/60/70fps - or is it a waste of time in that case?
