I always found them a bit hard to love as the comedy was a bit too surreal at times for my liking. But some golden moments for sure and a couple of good films.

I only ever liked the movies i'm afraid. The show wasn't much to my liking. Never understood the appeal for the Dead Parrot sketch that everybody goes on about. Apparently it was supposed to be a toaster or something at first, but they thought it should be even madder so they went with the Parrot.

There's already been a TV special celebrating 30 years of The Meaning of Life. Eric was on satellite link up with the remainder of the Pythons and they talked about making another film... only half seriously, of course.

Parts have, parts haven't. To be honest, I'm at a loss with comedy in general these days. There's only two programmes on television at the moment that make me laugh, Curb and Louie. Everything else is awful. Flying Circus is still better than the Big Bang Theory tbf.

Yes it all borders on comedic necrophilia, but then John Cleese needs the money after his divorce.

The TV shows were very hit and miss - more miss than hit if truth be told - but then they were trying to stretch comedy as far as it would go. No one's gone that far out on as many comedic limbs since Spike Milligan (who they acknowledge their debt to).

The movies are genuinely funny; Life of Brian in particular is one of the best comedy movies ever written. Perfect in pretty much every aspect.

So if they want to do a Greatest Hits tour, I ain't going to begrudge them that much. And if they come to Dublin with the show, I will beg, steal or borrow to attend it. I think a few more hundred thousand people in Ireland would probably do the same.

They belong to a happier time. We used to have nothing then, there were 150 of us living in a shoebox in the middle of the road, with nothing but hot gravel to eat, but we loved watching Monty Python.

However, this looks like they're just going to do stage shows where they re-play sketches from the flying circus except that they'll be older, less funny and without chapman

I wouldn't bother to be honest.

It'll be like going to watch a washed up 70s comic shouting out his old catchphrases

I would be really interested if they were going to come together to write a new film or even a new series of sketches because I think they're still very funny men and I'd really like to see their take on modern situations and how things have changed since the 70s

BBC radio just had a vox pop among teenage students and they didn't laugh when exposed to Python - "old fashioned".

I'm 28, and still find python hilarious. I did so when I was a teen as well. It's all subjective I guess.

I loved John Cleese in Fawlty Towers but I always thought Monthy Python was just 'zany' and 'wacky' rather than funny. I don't think I've ever laughed at anything they ever did, including any of their films.

TV Shows: Definitely dated and surprisingly boring but there's still some good stuff in there and Gilliam's animation is brilliant.

Holy Grail & Life Of Brian: Both brilliant and never has religion been more accurately skewered.

Meaning of Life: Patchy.

If you're agin this sort of thing, no, it doesn't make it right or good, but it does show the incredible level of interest.

I went to see Spike Milligan the last time he performed in Ireland and I didn't expect to see the madcap, firecracker Spike of the Goons or Q series. But it was Spike. I just wanted to see him in the flesh, applaud him for the massive contribution he's made and bask in his awesomeness.

I think there's a lot of that around the Python reunion. Gaze upon them, for we shall never see their like again.
